God Remains Faithful Even in the Darkness

Read about Our Faithful God

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”–Romans 8:28 (NIV) shows us God is Faithful.

Today’s Encouragement on Our Faithful God

I walked into the hushed conference room for our weekly meeting and saw my grimed faced bosses sitting at the long table. A prickling unease crawled up my spine as I tried to decipher their presence in the room, their demeanor amplifying the unsettling feeling. The words “immediate layoff” came tumbling out, silencing the room with the weight of the unwanted news. A ripple of murmurs and gasps arose from the crowd as the gravity of the news settled upon each person. I scanned the list, and there it was—my name, jumping out at me among the others.

I thought my career was over, and the crushing weight of failure threatened to consume me. Everything changed with that one word, layoff. Now, what, this was my dream job? I sobbed, and I felt abandoned by God at that moment. The daunting prospect of job hunting at my age, coupled with the highly competitive nature of my field, filled me with apprehension.

Will God Work it Out?

Many persistent global challenges, from poverty to climate change, continue to affect our world. We deal with disease outbreaks, and now the crushing weight of inflation has many of us wondering how we will make ends meet. The simultaneous drop in the stock market and the rise in gas prices create a sense of economic unease, impacting everyone. What lies ahead in our future?

God is Faithful

Take heart, my beloved, and know that God’s unwavering love and guidance will see us through. When we skip ahead to the Book of Revelation in the Bible, we see God’s victorious in the end. Gazing upon the world’s problems, a sense of overwhelming dread settles upon our hearts. But when we look to God, we discover His profound peace and unwavering hope, a sense of calm settling over our souls.

Verse to encourage us

Besides Romans 8:28 mentioned earlier, here are a few more verses to encourage you with reminders of how God is faithful:

•           Psalm 31:24 NIV – “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”

•           Psalm 33:20 NIV – “We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.”

•           Isaiah 40:31 NIV – “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

•           1 Peter 5:7 NIV – “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

•           Philippians 4:19 NIV – “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Find solace in Romans 8:28’s message: a steadfast belief that God works for the ultimate good of those who love Him. Months passed following the layoff; then, one day, filled with unexpected clarity, I realized God had new plans for my life. God’s faithfulness exceeded all expectations, working everything together for my ultimate good, and a profound peace settled over me.

Pray

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for the ways you work out things for my good, even when I don’t understand. When doubt fills me, please remind me of your promise in Romans 8:28. I pray for the wisdom to trust your ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen
