Romans 12:13 “When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.”
Have you starting shopping for those on your Christmas list yet? I am just starting mine. In fact, I find it a struggle to buy Christmas presents but the reason behind my struggle might surprise you. I believe most of us already have more than we need here in the U.S.A and other developed countries. If a person already has more than they need, why should I buy them more things they do not need?
We serve people in other countries who lack the basic items needed to survive, like food and medicines. Each year I contemplate donating to charity in the names of friends instead of buying them gifts. I could give a friend a $20 gift that she puts in a closet and forgets or I could donate $20 to a charity in her name and help change a life.
I think many of us have forgotten the difference between necessity and want. As you think about your gift giving this year, look at the attached photos and consider donating just a little to help others. I know our charity needs the help, as do so many others. $10 or $20 can provide a child with the true meaning of Christmas and maybe just save their life.
May the Lord Bless you and keep.
