Snow and Ice

Psalm 148:8 “Fire and hail, snow and clouds, wind and weather that obey him”

Weather in Oklahoma appears as very unpredictable. In fact, it can change in a moment’s time. Just this week alone we experienced thunderstorms, tornados, sleet, freezing rain, snow, floods and even an earthquake thrown in for good measure. No one can even say our weather is boring. Winter weather is less common for us here in the south but I really do enjoy it. I become childlike, watching and waiting for the first flake to fall. As friends moan and groan about the impending winter precipitation, I pray for God to pile it up enough so I can build a snowman or fashion a snow angel. God was good and I spent the day all warm and snuggly in my pajamas sipping hot tea as the ice and snow fell from the heavens.

Psalm 148:8 Tells us how even the wind and the weather obey the Lord’s command. What a truly awe-inspiring thought. The very elements and nature of this world understood whom Jesus was as seen in the Bible. They listened and obeyed Him. We see many examples of this during Jesus’ ministry on earth. We see one example in Mark 4 as Jesus is asleep in a boat with His disciples. A fierce storm comes up and frightens the 12. Jesus awakens and speaks to the wind, “Peace be still.” Immediately, the storm and waves settle down. Truly amazing to ponder.

If all of nature understands who Christ is, then why do we doubt His divine nature? Why do we not turn over all our problems to Him? If God can calm a storm, why do I not trust Him to carry my burdens? The Lord our God is the King of Kings and worthy of our trust and praise. He can handle any problem you have, trust in Him.
