Acts 4:13 (NLT) “The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.”
During a recent discussion of the book “All In” by Mark Batterson, a group member made the comment, “I don’t think we are all called to do big, bold things for Christ.” Now, several weeks later, I am still pondering that thought. Does God call all of us to go bold for Him?
What does boldness look like? Webster’s defines boldness as (n.) The state or quality of being bold. The word appears in the Bible in regards to the action of the disciples. The disciples were extremely bold in their missions. It was a necessary qualification for the work assigned to them. They were not only subject to violent persecutions, but also were the constant subject of ridicule and contempt. They needed the boldness to change the world for Christ.
Back to my original thought, does God call us to do big, bold actions for Him? If we accept Christ as our Savior then we will spend eternity with our heavenly Father. Our salvation is not based on our works as explained in Ephesians 2:9 (NLT) “Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” However, I think God has big, bold ideas planned for each one of us. I picture myself standing in heaven one day as God shows me all the things I might have accomplished if I had more boldness. I think I will be very disappointed in myself for all the missed opportunities and amazed by the things I could have done with and for Christ.
As I look back at our mission work, I can hardly believe what God allowed us to accomplish. What more could He have done through me if my fears had not held me back at times? I do not think God requires us to perform incredibly bold deeds but if we don’t try, I believe we miss being a part of something miraculous. I think God can do amazing things through each of us but we allow our fears, busyness and worldly living to keep us from trying them. The possibilities are endless if we step out in bold faith. Someone reading this might be the next great evangelist.

Stop waiting in the wings for others to do the big items. God has a big, bold plan for your life. You just have to step up and claim it.
May the Lord Bless you and keep.
