Decisions

Proverbs 2:11 “Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.”

Sierra Leone 2

All our decisions have an impact. This past weekend, a young woman made decisions that changed the future for many people. She made choices that resulted in her driving into the back of a parade at Oklahoma State University. Four people died and more than 3 dozen sent to the hospital. Many lives will never be the same because of her decisions. Facts about the crash and the driver are still evolving but no matter what the reason, she made some bad choices. I pray she will get the help she needs for her underlying issues. How are your decisions affecting the future?

When we listen to the world more than we listen to Christ, we start making poor decisions. The further we move away from Christ, the more our poor choices affect our future. The world tells us to choose things over people. Our success or our possessions do not define who we are in Christ. God defines us how we care for others, especially those suffering in the world today.

Instead of making worldly choices, we need to practice making Christ based choices. What does that look like? Christ demonstrated it for us in Matthew 25:35 “For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.” Christ calls us to make decisions with eternal impact by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and providing for those in need. The size of your home may not affect your eternity but feeding one orphan might. The Lord shows us in Matthew 25:34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” Helping those in need allows us to inherit the kingdom of God. It is your choice to make, worldly decisions or Godly decisions.

“When a poor person dies of hunger it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed.” ― Mother Teresa

May the Lord Bless you and keep.
