Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”
I love participating in the Christmas Child program. My mom packed a shoebox for many years and I continue to do it in memory of her. I also enjoy it because of the orphans I work with in our ministry. I know how something as small as a shoe box full of goodies can mean the world to a little one with nothing. I have included the link below if you want to participate or find out more about the program.
I recently saw a blog about ideas of what to put into a shoebox for a child in a foreign country. The writer of the article was not officially involved with the program but just wanted to provide some insights. The article also gave a list of items not to send. As I read over the list of don’ts, it made me stop and think. One of the don’ts stated, “Not to send your old used toys or old used clothing” in the shoebox. As the verse in Colossians reminds up, “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus.” When we participate in programs like this, we are representing Christ to a child that might not know anything about Jesus. This program offers an opportunity to minister to people in the far-reaching corners of the world. As you fill your shoebox, remember to put wonderful new gift in to show them the love of Christ. You do not have to spent a lot of money; you just have to put a little thought into it.
May the Lord Bless you and keep.
