Blood Types

Blood types; love your neighbor, Jesus loves us; A heart for Jesus; We are all the same inside

My blood type is O negative. This type of blood is rare and is also considered the universal donor. Any other blood type can accept O negative for transfusions. Unfortunately, I can only receive 0 negative blood if I needed a transfusion. A total of 35 human blood group systems are now recognized by the International Society of Blood Transfusion.

Matthew 26:28 “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

The same blood types span across all nationalities and ethnicities. God made all of us the same. We share blood types, along with the number of muscles, tendons, and bones in our bodies. When God looks down on His creation, He does not see us the way we see each other. God sees each one of us as His children. Human hearts created divisions based on factors like size, skin color or mental abilities. Discrimination is not a Godly trait.

Ephesians 1:7 “He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.”

God loves people based on the condition of their hearts, not the color of their skin. The love of God sent Jesus to shed His blood for each one of us. As Romans 8:39 reminds us, nothing will separate any us from the love of God. Our man-made division goes against God’s command to love one another as found in John 13:34. In a world full of malice, we must stand up for others and be the difference that changes the world.

Romans 8:39 “No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, help us to see our neighbors through your eyes. Teach us to love everyone as you love us. Heal our world from all forms of discrimination and hatred. Forgive us when we judge others. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness when we fall short. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen

This post is beautiful! I love that you mentioned how God sees all of us as His children, what an INCREDIBLE honor that we are unworthy of. This post makes me want to shout from the mountains the joy, grace and peace that comes with following Jesus so that everyone can feel welcomed.

Yvonne, I love how you put that “God loves people based on the condition of their hearts, not the color of their skin.” I couldn’t help but think about the scripture in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is more deceitful than anything else and desperately sick-who can understand it?”

The beautiful part about our heart is Jesus changes that condition with His love and our repentance. And yes, we are all His children. No one is less than because of race or anything else. Jesus died for all and His love covers each person’s sin.

The different colors God made in His people give beauty to His creation. We all should appreciate that beauty instead of discriminate.

I love how you wove the scriptures in your story. 🙂 Beautiful!

  3. Yes Yvonne. So many nuggets of truth. Everyone’s blood runs red. Everything else just creates much needed diversity – from skin color, to personality, to God-given talents.

God has created us with unique traits and unique blood types. I, too, am O negative. We are blessed to know even with all our differences in appearances, we are all His children and loved by Him.

Amen! I am an O- too. And my children are all +. Although they could have killed me with that difference of blood type, there was still a way that we all could be okay! He’s made a way for us all to get along. And that’s the hope for the world.

He had made the way for us. Thanks for your comments

Great topic! I have often wondered about blood, too. It’s fascinating to me to think of how life is in the blood, and that is why God required blood sacrifices in the Old Testament before Christ’s final blood sacrifice—sin causes death and life is in the blood. So, it makes sense that blood sacrifices were needed. There is SO much more to our blood than just life. We are uniquely created, each with our own DNA recipe, and God knows each and everyone of those recipes! Isn’t that amazing? Yeah. He’s our awesome God, and He loves us no matter what blood type we inherited. Amen!

This is a very timely post because I have been asking the Lord to help me see others through His eyes and to take away the judgmental spirit that I still have to some degree. He loves each person I come across just as much as He loves me; no more, no less. This is something I need to be reminded of often. Thanks for a great post!

      Me too, thanks Paul.

I love this connection between our blood types and the idea of discrimination. We are of one race–the human race. He told us that we would know each other by our fruits, which does not mean by our groups or our appearance. Thanks and God bless!
