Today, I want to introduce to a friend and upcoming author. Her story of faith during a devastating accident inspires me to never give up hope or my trust in God. I hope you find her journey and Jessie’s story as inspiring as I do and I hope you will follow her as she works towards her first book.

Jessie’s Story
I could never imagine the brutal journey we were about to embark upon when our daughter Jessie went on a church ski trip over spring break. Nothing can ever prepare someone for the horrific news of their child having a skiing accident, which resulted in a massive brain injury. We experienced the wilderness of our faith in Colorado for forty days and forty nights, as we witnessed the intense battle for her life. Once she was stable enough to transport home to Oklahoma, via medical air transport, the long, fierce battle for her recovery continued.
A Hope for Jessie
Late one night, I searched for hope as I cried out to God. My online explorations couldn’t find one story about a patient recovering from having both sides of their skull removed. Jessie also had a right frontal lobe debridement, and diffuse axonal injury. At that moment, I made an oath to God. I promised to be the one to write that success story if He allowed Jessie to recover. I wanted to share that same hope I found in Christ with those people desperately searching for an answer in their time of need. Fifteen years later, it is time for me to fulfill my promise to God. I will write that story about the power and grace of God we found during tragedy.
Sharing to Help Others
Over the last several months, I started my writing journey. I explored and discovered the deep, hidden pain and grief of my situation. Within the miracle God gave me, I saw hope embedded throughout this path of grief and loss. I weave this story with the beauty of creation and the intimacy of God with us. I want to provide the help and hope we couldn’t even imagine we needed when we were so broken and grief filled. Witnessing and sharing this miracle of God’s provision is only one small way of me giving back. I want to show the profound gratitude for all He has given me.
My mission in this journey is to give hope to the ones who have suffered significant loss. I also want to show others how I came to a deeper understanding that God’s presence is always with us. Through my book, I want to show others how to find Christ in the darkest of nights. And I want to help families how provide support to the ones driven into the wilderness by tragedies. I want to teach them how to know the answer to the question, “What can I do to help?”

So enjoyed learning of this terrible tragedy. Not sure if prayers are still needed for Miss Jessie (beyond everyone needing prayer for each day), but will certainly be praying as this book makes its way through the arduous publications process. Thank you for the intro Ms. Yvonne.
