Let’s embark on an awe-inspiring journey through the New Testament, delving into the profound depths of the book of Luke. And as we move through each book, we hope to uncover the profound and life-altering messages that lie within.
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” Romans 15:4 (NIV).
Here are several questions to ponder to help us dig deeper into God’s Word:
- What do you think is the key message of this chapter?
- What did you learn from this chapter?
- Which point in this chapter spoke to you the most? How did it affect you?
- Why do you think God included this chapter in the Bible?
- What was the context? What was going on in that time period?

Summary of Luke:
Among the Gospels, Luke stands out as the most comprehensive. The author’s choice of words and language shows a high level of education. He frequently alludes to various ailments and medical conditions. Luke emphasizes Jesus’ deep connections with people.
This book lacks any mention of the author’s name, yet there are several undeniable hints showing that Luke is the one behind it. The Gospel serves as a companion to the book of Acts, sharing a similar language and structure, suggesting a common author.
We see the central theme of Luke’s Gospel centers on the nature of the salvation brought by Jesus Christ. Luke’s Gospel provides a unique perspective on salvation as Jesus interacts with a diverse range of individuals, highlighting its spiritual, physical, and social aspects.
Important Messages from the Book:
The Gospel of Luke emphasizes Jesus offers salvation to everyone, regardless of their social status, ethnicity, or past life. Also, Luke’s Gospel highlights God’s love and protection for those who are vulnerable and marginalized, including women, children, and the impoverished.
Above all, Luke’s Gospel invites individuals of all backgrounds and moral standings to relinquish their futile efforts to save themselves and wholeheartedly embrace Christ as their ultimate guide and the ultimate advocate for those burdened by sin.
How To Apply the Lessons Today:
The Gospel of Luke has several messages for people today:
- The Kingdom of God is for the poor and marginalized.
- He tells us that the gospel is good news.
- We are called to value humility over prestige.
- Luke calls us to follow Christ.
- It shows the importance of sharing the good news.
- We should be thankful and joyful daily.
- Jesus values everyone.
Unique Messages in Luke:
Luke, who was both Greek and a Gentile Christian, brought a unique perspective to his faith. And his presence as the only Gentile author in the New Testament adds an interesting dimension to the overall narrative. Also, Luke was a close friend and companion of Paul. Luke’s gospel uses a variety of unique stories and parables, such as the birth of Jesus, the Good Samaritan, the Prodigal Son, and the risen Christ on the road to Emmaus and Luke shows a special compassion for the marginalized individuals in his society.
Prayer

Dear Lord and Savior, please help us understand the messages you provide in the New Testament and help us absorb them and put them into practice in our lives. Teach us to live them out daily. As Apostle Matthew explained, encourage our hearts to believe in the message and share it with others we meet today and every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
