Fearing Other’s Opinion:
Psalm 118:6 (NIV); “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

A Mask to Avoid Other’s Opinion:
My grandchildren love to play dress up anytime of the year, not just at Halloween and they own all kinds of outfits, shoes, tiaras, and mask to help them with make believe. The little ones find tons of joy in pretending to be someone else. Just spend a day at Disney World and spot kids and adults alike dressed as their favorite princess, so I think we all of us like to pretend.
But as adults, some people use masks to hide their true selves from others. They might seek acceptance from others through pretense because they believe no one would love the real them, or maybe they experience feelings of inadequacy about who they are or because of circumstances in their lives. When we live in a manner to ensure others love us, we give them the power to determine our self-worth.
But, when we anchor our self-worth in God’s opinion of us, we can banish the fear of other’s opinion of us. By observing Jesus’ life, we can gain insight into how to live as cherished children of God. Jesus stayed connected to His Father through prayer and by taking God at his word, Jesus found confidence in his father’s love, acceptance, and understood he was a cherished child of God the Father. Through prayer and anchoring our self-esteem in God’s grace and mercy, we can banish the fear of how other people’s view of us.
Bible Promises:
Ephesians 1:4–5 (NLT); “4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”
Prayer to See God’s Opinion of Us:

Dear Father in Heaven, please help me anchor my self-esteem in you alone. Occasionally, I rely on others for acceptance when I have self-doubt, so please help me see my worth through your eyes only. Thank you for accepting me and loving me. Guide me through your word daily. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Psalm to Help Trust God’s View of Us:
Psalm 139:1-6 (NLT); “1 O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. 3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. 4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. 5 You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!”

This is such an important message, Yvonne. Many adults, even Christian ones, struggle with identity issues and what others think. I’m so grateful I am who the Great I AM says I am. Love Psalm 139. God bless.

I’m so glad I don’t have to be in a popularity contest, Yvonne, because God’s opinion of me is what truly matters for the long term. And I’m thankful for Jesus who covers me with His blood, because I would look terrible without it. What a loving God we serve. Praise Him.
Thanks Stephen. We do serve a loving God and that is the best part. God bless.
